Does your business rely on local customers? Maybe you are not a national business and in which case, makes it easier to optimise your website to drive traffic from your local area.
For example, if you are a catering company specialising in corporate catering based in Manchester you would optimise your home page or your main service page with the phrase ‘corporate catering Manchester’ rather than just ‘corporate catering’ which is called a wide search as you are competing with the whole of the UK with little chance of ranking on page one of Google. By using ‘corporate catering Manchester’ you are narrowing your radius and increasing your chances of ranking on page one of Google if not towards the top of Google.
Another tactic is to build multiple landing pages for areas within Manchester. So you may want to target specific towns like Wigan, Stockport or Eccles so you would adjust your on page SEO to be ‘corporate catering Eccles’ with clear CTA’s (Call to actions like a quick contact form).
It is important to optimise your website correctly as detailed on our last blog post ‘SEO 101 - How to improve your rankings on Google’.
Another Google feature you can take advantage of is a Google my Business Business Profile. If you operate within a certain radius then a Google Business Profile is a must. This allows you to set opening hours, upload images, add your business to Google Maps, request Google Reviews (which you can auto feed into your website), add services and products, take bookings and set the radius your business covers. This helps with your Google rankings because Google will take this into account.
